Finding
Graves
There are approximately 1,500 graves at Lihue Public Cemetery, spanning the years from 1850 to the present. We have a fairly complete list of the persons buried here through 1959, which is when the original cemetery logbook ends. Of those approximately 400 gravestones, more than 200 have been identified, photographed, and transcribed at billiongraves.com. Our goal is to record the names and dates of all persons buried here before 1960. If you download the free Billion Graves app, you may find a wealth of information and it will help you locate graves.
You can also search for names on this website by going to “View Cemetery” and typing a LAST NAME into the “Deceased Name” field. Listings will pop up along with the section and site number. Click on the map section, then click on the corresponding number and you will see whatever information has been transcribed, usually just the last name and date of death (DOD). Unfortunately, not all gravestones are legible; therefore, not all persons are listed. Some are recorded as “Unknown.”
