Finding
Graves
There are approximately 1,500 graves at Lihue Public Cemetery, spanning the years from 1850 to the present. Over 600 gravestones date from the Territorial period (through 1959), and most of those have been identified, photographed, and transcribed at billiongraves.com. If you download the free Billion Graves app, you may find information about the gravestones you wish to locate.
You can also search for names on this website by going to “View Cemetery” and typing a LAST NAME into the “Deceased Name” field. Listings will pop up along with the section and site number. Click on the map section, then click on the corresponding number and you will see whatever information has been transcribed, usually the person's name and date of death (DOD). Unfortunately, not all gravestones are legible; therefore, not all persons are listed. Some are recorded as “Unknown.”
