Memorial
Wall
The Cemetery has a Memorial Wall (Wall) that was built in 1998 for the purpose of allowing individuals appropriately connected to Kauai to be memorialized on the island. Permission to have a plaque on the Wall is granted by the Association’s Trustees after review of an Application Form available from the Cemetery Manager. The usage of the Wall is guided by these Rules & Regulations:
- Application may only be made after the person to be honored has passed.
- The honoree must have a connection to Kauai, typically having at some time resided here.
- The honoree may not have a memorial stone elsewhere on Kauai.
- Standardized plaques are mounted on the Wall, with the 1st line being the name of the honoree, and the 2nd line being the years of birth and death.
- The applicant for a plaque shall pay the fee in place at the time. The fee includes various costs to obtain and install the plaque.
- The plaque will be installed by the manager in the presence of the applicant, if so desired.
- Plaques shall be placed on the Wall as requests are received. There shall be no reserved spaces except for spouses.
- No flowers shall be allowed on or around the Wall.
- Questions which may arise shall be addressed to the Manager and are ultimately subject to the decision of the Trustees.
- These Rules and Regulations can be changed at any time by the Trustees without notice.
Perpetual care of the Memorial Wall shall be the responsibility of the Lihue Public Cemetery Association. If you wish to contribute, donations are tax-deductible.
